He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Carlie and Mahala "Hala" Edwards Hampton; his wife Wilma Dean Pratt Hampton; his sons, Roger Dale Hampton, Gary Alan Hampton and Robert Gerald Hampton; and his siblings, Salmon Reid Hampton, Richard Chap Hampton, Wilma Phipps and Irene Jones.
He is survived by: his son William Lewis Hampton Jr. of Independence, VA; his adoptive daughter Michelle Murphy Dixon (Ricky) of Laurel Springs; his grandchildren, Tina Hampton, Crystal Hampton, Randy Hampton (Lindsey), Andy Hampton (Missy), Scott Hampton (Amy), Terry Hale, Brandy Greene (Tim) and Trish Davis (Austin); his great grandchildren, Bailey Hampton, Karlie Hampton, Jayden Hampton, Clayton Hampton, Abigail Hampton, Kelsey Hampton, Riggin Hampton and Madison Greene; his close friends, Rick, Jennifer Anderson, Nash Williams, Randy Wood and Kathy Musgrove; and his daughter-in-law Becky Hampton of Taylorsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Shiloh United Methodist Church (197 Shiloh Church Rd, Sparta, NC 28675). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
