He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert Nichols and Myrtle Galyean Nichols; his wife Gladys Nichols; his son Tommy Nichols; his siblings, Lee Nichols, Talmadge Nichols, Libby Anders, Leota Kerley and Ann Andrews; and his daughter-in-law Susan Nichols.

He is survived by: his children, Betty Lou Williams of Sparta and Johnny Nichols of Sparta; and his siblings-in-law, Virginia Sturgill and Clenton Andrews. He is also survived by six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
