William J. McGreevy Obituary
William J. McGreevy (Bill) of Southport, NC and formerly of Wilton, CT died peacefully on March 6, 2025. He was born June 4, 1947 in Bronx, NY to William P. McGreevy and Dorothy (Clements) McGreevy.
Bill proudly served in the US Navy from 1969 to 1971. Following his military service and honorable discharge, Bill attended Iona University (formerly Iona College) graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1975. He met his future wife, Barbara Ann (Morrissey) McGreevy during his time at Iona and they were married in 1976. Bill went on to work in the Insurance industry. First, for Chubb & Sons right out of college and later to other insurance companies as an insurance broker.
Bill and Barbara Ann lived in Wilton, CT for 40 plus years before seeking a warmer locale in Southport, NC.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Ann; his daughter Keriann (McGreevy) Leavitt, her husband Stephen Leavitt of Cornelius, NC; son William P. McGreevy and wife Ella (Smith) McGreevy of Jupiter, FL.; and sister Joan McGreevy of Eastchester, NY. Bill was extremely proud of his three grandchildren Liam Leavitt, Tatum McGreevy, and William R. McGreevy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, March 19, at 10AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave, Norwalk, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Bill's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
