She was predeceased by: her parents, Lester Risch and Quinette Shaw Risch of Logan, Ohio.. She is survived by: her husband Dr. Sidney R. Fortney; her sister Carol Kelch; her brother-in-law Dr. Harold Kelch; and her nieces and nephews, Dr. C. T. Moorman, III (Lynne) of Charlotte, NC, Pam Moorman Beecher (Scott) of Concord, NC, David S. Fortney (Janet) of Winston Salem, NC, Lauren Fortney Bryan (John) of Raleigh, NC, Thomas O. Moorman (Debra) of Wake Forest, NC and Lester R. Fortney (Jennifer) of Austin, TX. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Peacock, Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service (1411 N Howe St, Southport, NC 28461). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A reception was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the West Cabarrus Church (7655 Bruton Smith Blvd, Concord, NC 28027). A burial was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Carolina Memorial Park (601 Mt Olivet Rd, Concord, NC 28025).
