She is survived by: her son William "Cricket" Puckett of Charlotte; her granddaughter Brittany Puckett; her great grandchildren, Axel King Connell and Athena Puckett; her siblings, Jimmy Basden and Judy Wright; her nephews, Johnny and Jason; her niece Joan; and her daughter-in-law Daphne Wise.

“Janie and I have been good friends for thirty plus years. I still feel as though I am dreaming this occurrence. I haven’t been able to see Janie since February when she came to Charlotte to see about Tony’s headstone. Janie was a good person and we did a lot of laughing over the phone. I think of her everyday. I start to text her daily before I remember. Please show love everyday to your loved ones, as we are never promised tomorrow. I will miss Janie so much.”
