He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Brittain and Odessa Mercer Brittain; his son Perry Brittain; and his brother David Earl Brittain. He is survived by: his wife Lois Richardson Brittain; his children, Allen Brittain (Cindy) of Southport and Meleta Humbert (Glen) of Shallotte; his grandchildren, Brittany (Ethan), Maranda (David), Katelyn (George), Morgan, Alex and Maddi; his great grandchildren, Riley, Annalee, Luke, Carly and Teagan; his sister Elaine Phelps (Chad) of Bolivia; his nephew David Brittain (Marie); and his niece Linda Chadwick (Milton).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Shriners Hospital for Children at https: //lovetotherescue.org/.
