She was predeceased by: her parents, William McCoy Wood and Sarah Nancy Mercer Wood; her husband Richard Carson Edwards; and her siblings, Nancy Wood Conner and Richard McCoy Wood.
She is survived by: her children, James Edwards (Meredith) of Kinston and Celia Edwards Whitehurst (Jay) of Snow Hill; her grandchildren, Brandy Dail of Greenville, Amber Crandell (Will) of Farmville, Matthew Edwards (Danielle) of Clayton and Sydney Edwards of Clayton; her great grandchildren, Brayden Crandell, Emma Boone and Savanna Crandell; her brother Charlie Leroy Wood (Ida) of New Bern; and her brother-in-law Tim Goodson of Snow Hill.
