He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Samuel Hines Sr. and Thelma Barfield Hines; and his sister Barbara H. Bello. He is survived by: his wife Jean Oakes Hines of Snow Hill; his children, Carrie Hines Ange of Snow Hill and Lester Samuel "Sammy" Hines III (Meegan) of Deep Run; his mother-in-law Wilma H. Oakes of Snow Hill; his siblings, Brenda H. Blackman of Snow Hill, Gayle H. Stocks of Snow Hill, Carlton Ray Hines (Lois Ann) of LaGrange and Tony Hines (Debbie) of Kinston; and his grandchildren, Jessi Caroline Hines (Tyler Fletcher) of Deep Run, Sam Hines of Deep Run and Jaxson Ange of Snow Hill. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
