He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Speight and Luvenia Worthington Speight; and his siblings, Clarence Ray Speight and Cuneta Speight Faulkner. He is survived by: his wife Ann Langley Speight; his daughters, Stacey Speight Humphrey of Kinston and Amanda Speight Swain of Kinston; his grandchildren, Bailey Humphrey of Greenville, Andrew Barajas (Babi) of Fort Riley, Courtney Humphrey of Kinston and Eric Barajas of Kinston; and his great grandchild A. J. Barajas.
