He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Lee Stafford and Esther May Davis Stafford; his stepfather Earl Lanson Bowman; his brother Donald Ray Stafford; and his grandparents, Samuel and Betty Peeden Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Yvonne Johnson Stafford; his daughter Meredith Mengel (Trenton); his granddaughter Kincaid of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; his son Jason Stafford (Vicinta); his grandson Mason Stafford of Burnet, Texas; his stepson Jay Pigford (April) of Fremont, NC; his stepgrandchildren, Alec, Haley and Ian; his brother David Stafford (Susan) of Goldsboro, NC; and his sister-in-law Deborah Stafford of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews he loved.
