He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Garvis Guthrie and Mary Price Guthrie. He is survived by: his children, Mary Emma Griffin (Jay) of Graham, John Scott Guthrie (Haylee Reitzel) of Snow Camp and Luke Hamilton Guthrie of Snow Camp; his sisters, Linda Guthrie McBane of Snow Camp and Charlotte Faye Snipes of Graham; and his grandchildren, Lilah Elyse Griffin and James Robert Griffin, III.
