It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sybil Jean Edwards of Smithfield, North Carolina, born in Roseboro, North Carolina, who passed away on December 4, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Abie Matthews and Lula Jane Robinson Matthews; her brothers, Dr. Otto Matthews and Dr. Roland Matthews; and her husband Robert O. Edwards.
She is survived by: her daughters, Lori E. Graham (Michael) of Kenansville and Abby E. Salas (Joe) of Smithfield; her grandchildren, Jessica G. Holmes (Brandon) of Goldsboro, Logan S. O'Kelly (Tom) of Raleigh, Hayden L. Salas of Smithfield and Justin M. Graham (Anna) of Raleigh; and her great grandchildren, Madison, Brayden, Allie and Macie of Goldsboro. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
