She was predeceased by: her parents, Fonzer Leon Batten and Vivian Aycock; her husband Ralph Griggs; her daughter Tracie Hildebrand; and her granddaughter Juanita Baker.
She is survived by: her daughters, Rebecca Pettigrew of Dunn, Patsy Stanley (Donald) of Selma, Kathy Simmons of Dunn, Sharon Prince (Walter) of Durham and Mary Ann Griggs (Franklin Davis); and her grandchildren, Donna Smith, Paul Simmons, Liza Simmons, Josh Griggs, Alex Griggs, Ray Vazquez, Cody Griggs, Jacob Griggs, Nina Barefoot and Dewayne Mitchell. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.
