It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Genevieve Medlin Berge Woodall of Smithfield, North Carolina, who passed away on December 29, 2022, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Ira Wade Medlin and Love Matilda Eastwood Medlin; and her brother Tommy Eastwood Medlin. She is survived by: her husband Kent Berge; her children, Karen Berge Brown (Michael), Fuquay, Pamela Berge Gale (John), Thomas Kent Berge, Arlington, Virginia David Medlin Berge (Jenny) and Heidi Ann Berge of Florida; her stepchildren, Steve Woodall (Joette) and Susan Woodall; her grandchildren, Alyssa Gale Freund, Lauren Gale, Miranda Gale, Raleigh Lauren Tubb, Brady Parker Tubb and Brandon Eastwood Tubb; her great grandchildren, Blane Tyler Diego, Elliana Gale Freund, Griffin Kent Freund, Zephyr Thor Priest, Jackson Alexander Tavira and Mason Bradley Tubb; and her great great grandchildren, Eli Gavin, Astrid Freja Diego and Please. She is also survived by her five children, three in-law spouses, and six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

“In the 1960s, the Berge and Dienst families shared a duplex at Patrick AFB, and began a long friendship. Genevieve and Lorraine became very close friends, and later vacationed together, including a cruise to Alaska in 2003. As children, I remember attending musicals that Genevieve sang in (South Pacific, Guys and Dolls), and we were awed by her voice and presence on stage. As adults, visiting her with Woodie or Karen later, we loved her warmth and humor. She was a classy lady, one of a kind.”
