It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Douglas Wade Shirley of Smithfield, North Carolina, who passed away on June 9, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Douglas Wade departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Douglas Wade. Though Douglas Wade may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, T. W. "Red" Shirley and Hazel Warren Shirley; his wife Dianne Shirley; and his son Joseph Logan Shirley. He is survived by: his sons, Keenan Shirley (Deborah) of Garner and Samuel Shirley of Smithfield; his sister Tina Hobbs (Joey) of Smithfield; and his grandchildren, Carson Shirley of Garner and Thomas Shirley of Smithfield.
