It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melinda Whitaker Atkins of Siloam, North Carolina, who passed away on August 17, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Burley Clay Whitaker and Sadie Slawter Whitaker; her son Donald Ray Atkins; her siblings, Landis Whitaker, Rosa Whitaker Potts, Bessie Whitaker Ashburn and Leona Whitaker Putnam; and her son-in-law Ricky Bobbitt (Carlie Atkins).
She is survived by: her daughter Sue Atkins Bobbitt; her brothers, Harold Whitaker and Melvin Whitaker (Martha); her extended family, Christie, Zachary and Colin Baumann; and also Siloam. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, so many special friends.
