He was predeceased by : his parents, Sewell James and Alberta Gearing Cox; and his siblings, Richard Cox and Betty Atwell. He is survived by : his wife Ann Koon Cox; his children, Micheal Cox (Tonya), Michelle Danna, Toni Perryman (Don) and Wendy Vanover; his brothers, Ronald Cox (Sallie) and Donald Cox (Louise); his grandchildren, Dakota Perryman, Devan Cox, Logan Cox, Samuel Perryman, Elizabeth Vanover, Justin Danna and Max Danna; his great grandchild Kinsleigh Cox; his nieces and nephews, James, Nicholas, David, Christy, Christopher and Trisha; and his pet Bamboo.

Visitation was held on Monday, June 24th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Catawba Funeral Home (3060 US Hwy 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602). A graveside service was held on Monday, June 24th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Catawba Memorial Park (3010 US Hwy 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602).
