He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thomas Barnes and Alma Elizabeth Reid Barnes; and his brother Michael Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Carol Cunningham Barnes; his daughters, Lynn Ferree (Chris) and Leslie Brooks (Matthew); his grandchildren, Bryson Ferree (Amanda), Sydney Ferree, Jordan Ferree, Thomas Brooks (Kendall) and Madelyn Brooks; his great grandchildren, Koen Ferree, Freyja Ferree and Iris Ferree; and his siblings, John Reid Barnes (Eloise) and Carole Gearhart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Westview Baptist Church, 500 Melody Lane, Shelby, NC 28152.
