He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thomas Barnes and Alma Elizabeth Reid Barnes; and his brother Michael Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Carol Cunningham Barnes; his daughters, Lynn Ferree (Chris) and Leslie Brooks (Matthew); his grandchildren, Bryson Ferree (Amanda), Sydney Ferree, Jordan Ferree, Thomas Brooks (Kendall) and Madelyn Brooks; his great grandchildren, Koen Ferree, Freyja Ferree and Iris Ferree; and his siblings, John Reid Barnes (Eloise) and Carole Gearhart.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Westview Baptist Church (500 Melody Ln, Shelby, NC 28152). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
