He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Monroe and Lela Mae Lorance Gibson; his siblings, Ralph Gibson and Doris Powers; and his son-in-law Carl "Chuck" Spangler, III.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Greer Gibson; his children, Mark Gibson (Stephanie) of Boiling Springs, Tonie Turner (Macky) of Shelby and Sabrina Spangler of Boiling Springs; and his siblings, Merritt Gibson (Tish) and Jean Auton. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
