With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Stanley Abernathy of Shelby, North Carolina, born in Halifax, North Carolina, who passed away on August 3, 2023 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Abernathy, Sr. and Virginia Abernathy; and his siblings, Margie, Hattie Lee, Bernice, Clara Belle, Ethel, Prue Abernathy, Roy and John Abernathy.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Abernathy; his children, Ted Abernathy and Angela Stamey; his brother James Abernathy; his grandchildren, Clay Stamey and Chayce Stamey (Dixie); and his great grandchild Heidi Stamey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Doctors Without Borders, St. Jude Children's Hospital and Wendover Hospice.
