He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Ray McCune Bowles and Lucille Wickizer Bowles; and his siblings, Robert Wickizer Bowles and Nancy Lucille Bowles (Jo Carol Jones). He is survived by: his wife Mary Walker Bowles; his children, Linda Jorgensen, Susan Sheffield, Rick Bowles, Jr. (June), April Griggs (Mike), Wendy Coble and Mary Beam (Dennis); and his brother Lawrence Thompson Bowles (Judith). He is also survived by nine loving grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
