He was predeceased by: his parents, Clemmie "Chick" Lee Wellmon and Ruby Jane Costner Wellmon; and his siblings, Bobby Wellmon, Bill Wellmon and Diane Helms.
He is survived by: his wife Pamela Cannon Wellmon; and his children, Michael Wellmon, Jr. (Samantha) of Lake Bowen, SC, Kevin Wellmon (Joni) of Fallston, Ginger Nicole Strickland (Wayne) of Savannah, GA, Haley Greene (Wesley) of Shelby and Heather DiBruno (Nick) of Gastonia. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
