Melissa Hood DeVane Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melissa Hood DeVane (Shelby, North Carolina), who passed away on January 13, 2023 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her mother Gladys Hood; her husband William Andres DeVane; and her brother Dr. C. K. Hood of Charlotte. She is survived by: her children, Methodist Youth, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Shannon Blackley (Chip) of Shelby, Ben Burroughs (Todd) of Rochester, NY and Laurie (Charles) of Hatteras, NC; her grandchildren, Gracie Huggins (Will), Shem Blackley, Rennie, Cate and Josie Parker; and her pet Vera. She is also survived by her children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Melissa would ask that we go in peace, to love and serve the Lord and one another. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, Clifford's Army (animal) Rescue, or charity of choice.
