She was predeceased by: her parents, Clayton Byers and Gladys Hammett Byers; and her brother Eugene Byers. She is survived by: her children, Ray Dale of Gastonia and Melinda Downey (Marc) of Gastonia; and her siblings, Betty Byers, Sophie Cooper (Herald), Barbara Hodge (Ronnie), Mary Frashier (Mark), Debra Frashier, Vickie Hollifield (Ted) and Randy. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews; and a special friend.
