He was predeceased by: his parents, James B. Spears Sr. and Martha "Ginny" P. Spears. He is survived by: his daughters, Martha Spears Kirk (Robbie), Laura Elizabeth Ray (Bradley) and Katherine Patricia Spears (Edwin); his grandchildren, Willa Anne, Francis Marion "Fox", Vada Virginia and Hugo Peña; the mother of his children Stephanie Stovall Spears; and his siblings, Sandra "Jean" Spears Guy, James "Jim" B. Spears, Jr. (Sue), Pam McGinnis (Hubert "Buck") and Jeff Spears (Susan).
