He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Palmer Gold and Nannie Sue Shytle Gold; his wife Ann Herndon Gold; and his stepsons, Allen Herndon and Gerald Herndon.
He is survived by: his sons, Jerry Gold (Sheri) of Maiden, NC and Roger Gold (Kristin) of Lincolnton, NC.; his sister Ann Shuford; his stepson John Herndon; his grandchildren, Eric Gold (Kim) and Hannah Gold; his great grandchildren, Noah Gold and Mia Gold; and his stepgrandchildren, Carroll Herndon and Johnathan Herndon.
