John Bob Whitaker Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Bob Whitaker of Shelby, North Carolina, born in Cleveland, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 6, 2024 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Fay Alvin Whitaker and Oveda Ezell Whitaker; his daughter Janet Whitaker Austell; and his granddaughter Melanie Austell. He is survived by: his wife Patsy Gold Brooks Whitaker; his sister Elizabeth Jones of Ellenboro; his sons, Phil Whitaker (Lynn) of Shelby and Kenneth Whitaker (Linda) of Shelby; his son-in-law Nick Austell; and his grandchildren, Melissa Austell Bradshaw, Rebekah Whitaker, Jessica Whitaker Francis, Terry Whitaker and Kelly Whitaker. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to Sandy Plains Baptist Church: 2112 New House Rd., Shelby, NC 28150.
