He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney McMurry and Clara Lee McNeely McMurry; his son James McMurry; his grandson B. J. Shepard; and his sister Nancy Patterson.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Lorena Horne McMurry; his children, Dawn Moore (Bobby) of Mooresboro, NC and Dana Bradshaw (Nathan) of Shelby, NC; and his siblings, Dale McMurry of Lawndale, Carolyn Hamrick of Lawndale, NC and Diann Langley of Lawndale, NC. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
