He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesus Candelaria and Nieves Lazo Candelaria; his wife Joyce Ann Candelaria; his brothers, Eduardo Candelaria Lazo and Pedro J. Candelaria Lazo of Cuba; and his stepsons, Robert and Rickie Callahan.
He is survived by: his daughters, Nieves Candelaria (Cristian A. Alvarado) of Shelby, NC and Niurka Candelaria (Ivan Meneses) of Havana; his siblings, Maria C. Matheson, Dora Cilgeski, Emelia Longoria, Luis Alberto Candelaria and Antonio D. Candelaria; his grandchildren, Ivania, Ivaniel and Alain; and his stepchildren, Dennis Callahan (Angela), Scottie Callahan (Darlene), Rabe Callahan and Debbie Smiley. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
