He was predeceased by: his father James Horace Scruggs; and his brother James Hal Scruggs. He is survived by: his mother Maida Greene Scruggs; his wife Susan Hamrick Scruggs; his children, Paula Richards (Billy), Mark Scruggs (Amy), Greg Kennedy and Leanne Russ (Kenny); and his grandchildren, Colby Richards, Chloe Richards, Caden Richards, Anna Ashley and Cora Russ.
