He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Martin and Lula Spangler Cornwell; his wife Patricia Church Cornwell; his siblings, Tom Cornwell, Jr., Max Cornwell, Inez Royster, Faye Cornwell Teague, MaryBelle Jensen, Jane Boddie and Ruth Cornwell Allen; and his granddaughters, Heather and Karen.
He is survived by: his daughter Tammy Cornwell Ritchie (Nash) of Deep Gap, NC; his stepchildren, Airforce Major Randy Hayes of Boiling Springs, NC, Pastor Jeff Hayes (Pam) of Shelby and Steve Brown (Quoc) of Shelby; his brother Marine Corps; his granddaughter Anna Ritchie; and his stepgrandchildren, Chad, Jennifer, Sarah, Susan, Stephen, Leah, Jacob, Ayden and Gena.
