He was predeceased by: his parents, D. Purvis Washburn and Edna Wright Washburn; his wife Elvira Bellomo Washburn; his brother Harry Eugene Washburn, Sr. (Betty); and his brother-in-law Walter Giles.
He is survived by: his sister Evelyn Giles of Raleigh, NC.. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
