We are sad to announce that on June 3, 2022, at the age of 75, Gene Cox of Shelby, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, George Carl Cox and Dessie Roberts Cox; and his brother Carl Lester Cox. He is survived by: his wife Sherri Lee; his son-in-law Cliff Johnson; his friends, Ron Blackwell, Pat Stringer and Roddy Turner; his grandchildren, Sarah Johnson, Lila Johnson, Dessie Ann Greene, Rachel Farrington, Bella Rose Farrington and Caden Gene Farrington; and also, Amy Harrelson (Robert), Jennifer Owens (Reid) and Erin Farrington (Colt).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150; and the Cleveland Community College Foundation "Gene C. Cox Memorial Scholarship Fund," 137 South Post Road, Shelby, NC 28150.

I have fond memories of riding horses with Gene and his gals and ALWAYS enjoyed his music and his sense of humor. He was so proud of his family and I know there is a big ole hole in your hearts.
