It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Everett Redmond of Shelby, North Carolina, born in Cleveland, North Carolina, who passed away on September 4, 2021, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Redmond and Linner Mae Mellon Redmond; and his siblings, Walter Redmond, Rosa Mae Parker and Myrtle Griffin.

He is survived by: his wife Vertie Ruth Warlick Redmond; his children, Everett Lee Redmond II (Valerie Schneider) of Silver Spring, MD and Frances Redmond Overcash (Marc) of Atlanta, GA; his sister Joyce Mellon of Mooresboro; and his grandsons, Ethan and Aidan Overcash.

Due to COVID mask and social distancing are requested.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 123 Beaver Dam Church Rd, Shelby, NC 28152.

“Mr. Redmond was a true educator on many levels. His academic credentials were in math, but his true expertise was in understanding high school kids. We feared him, revered him, and learned from him. He deciphered word problems for me and was a heck of a softball coach. I also learned that the twinkle in his eye meant while he knew what trouble you might be getting up to, he trusted you wouldn’t push it too far and would be back on campus in time for math class.”
