He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Fowler and Annie Emery Fowler; his wife Tammie Whitworth Fowler; and his siblings, David, Johnny Whaley, Betty Hawkins and Ina Maloney.

He is survived by: his children, Danyel Nichols (Daniel) of Grover and Morris T. Ramey (Summer Bradshaw) of Lawndale; his siblings, Carolyn Hamrick (Pinkey) of Shelby, Susie Stevens (Sam), Brenda Ledford (Steve) of Shelby, Steve Whaley of Shelby, Mike Fowler (Janice) of Shelby and Stacey Fowler (Jamie) of Shelby; his grandchildren, Jessica Moss (Tyler) of Blacksburg, Amber Tesseneer (Josh) of Shelby, Jada Whisenant (Blake) of Gaffney, Jacob Ramey (Katlyn Newton) of Casar and Jordan Mayes (Abbi Hovis) of Blacksburg; his great grandchildren, Raelynn Moss and Lainey Whisenant; his grandchildren, Savannah and Paige Nichols of Shelby; and his close friends, Joey Clark of Lawndale, Pam Martin of Lawndale and Deana Hill of Gaffney.
