He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Ryburn Petty and Lillian Floyd Petty; his wife Cora Petty; his brother Robert Petty (Brenda); his daughters, Allyson Gardner of Shelby and Nancy Petty (Karla Oakley) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Emily Jones, Caralei Champion, Oliver Gardner, Nora Petty and Jasmine Viar; his great grandchildren, Carter Hendrick, Zoe Henderson and Lillian Hutchinson; and his caregiver Mina Murilla (family: Maria, Noel, Elsa Neito).
