He was predeceased by: his father Robert Warren; his brother Virgil Emerson; and his great grandchild Sutton Reese. He is survived by: his wife Carol Doel Emerson of Shelby, NC; his daughters, Dawn Dieter (Ruben) of D'Hanis, TX, Carrie Emerson (Allen) of Gastonia, NC and Carolyn M. Emerson of Shelby, NC; his grandchildren, Michael (Elicia), Victoria (Kurtis), Cassandra (Walter), Amanda (Fernando) and Adrianna; and his great grandchildren, Lilly, Cooper and Leo.
