He is survived by: his wife Edith Cooper Heatherly; his daughters, Cheryl Billings (James) of Blacksburg, SC and Charlotte Sinclaire of Durham, NC; his daughter-in-law Glenda Adkins of Zionville, NC; his sister Aileen Quinn of Jonesville, SC; and his grandchildren, Michael Billings (Katie), Eric Billings, Joseph Heatherly (Caroline), Cole Heatherly (Anna), Alex Heatherly, Morgan Heatherly, Jennifer Adkins Hupp and Joseph "Mikey" Adkins. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
