She was predeceased by: her parents, James Reid and Evelyn Lillian Eaker Reid; her husband Yates Mitchem; her stepson Bruce Mitchem; and her granddaughter Elizabeth Mitchem (Bill Bridges).

She is survived by: her stepdaughter Sherry Squibb (Rick); her grandson Chris Byars (Wendy); her great grandchild Luther; her granddaughter Becky Mitchem (Anthony); and her close friends, Debbie Peeler and Brenda.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her memory to Hope's Chest in Shelby, NC to honor her love for Boston Terriers: 1042 Sam Lattimore Rd, Shelby, NC 28152.
