He was predeceased by: his parents, Raleigh Guffey and Pearl M. Guffey; his wife Freida Louise Hamrick; his sister Pauline G. Murphy; and his brother-in-law Holman "Pat" Murphy of Shelby.
He is survived by: his sons, Russell Guffey (Sheila) of Spartanburg, SC and Douglas Guffey (Dana) of Shelby; his grandchildren, Adam R. Guffey (Nicole Cali), Zane Guffey (Kylie Bishop) and Matthew Guffey; his great grandchildren, Tai Guffey, Emily Guffey, William R. Guffey, Logan Guffey, Amelia Guffey and Bodhi Axel Guffey; his niece Patti Reinheimer (Bob); his cousins, Tim Ware (Wanda) and Anne Ware; and his sister-in-law Meredith Pruett.
