He was predeceased by: his parents, James Earl and Wanda Grant Gettys. He is survived by: his wife Linda Pielow Gettys; his stepsons, Wakelee Purvis (Tammy) of Spartanburg, Andrew Purvis (Nikki) of Greenville, TN, Jacob Ziesmer (Kristin) of Taylors, SC and Charles Wright of Shelby; his brother Steve Gettys of Shelby; his grandchildren, Amanda, April, Axle, Oliver, Aurora, Rosalie and Adeline; and his nieces, Christy Gettys Slone and Ashley Gettys.

Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church.
