With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Betty Whitener Wellmon of Shelby, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 13, 2024 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by: her parents, Perry Albert Whitener and Loma Canipe Whitener; her husband Hubert Lee Wellmon; her sisters, Louise Broome (Henry Broome), Doris Haynes (A. V. Haynes), Hazel Lee (Bobby Lee) and Barbara Edwards; and her great grandchildren, Jarrett Lee Wellmon and Shealeigh Rose Brooks.
She is survived by: her children, LaDonna Hastings (Gene), Kenneth Wellmon (Brenda), Larry Wellmon (Caroline) and Marcia Alsobrook (Gary); her siblings-in-law, Joe Edwards and Betty Tarlton (Frank); and her grandchildren, Nicki Hastings (Bobby Park), Carla Hastings, Brandon (Jorge), Jerry Wellmon (Laura), Jessica Brooks, Elisha Wellmon, Jamie Wilson (Chris), Galen Davis, Haley Arbegast (Rob), Christopher Wellmon, Christina Wilson, Ashley Bailey (Curtis), Patrick Gammons (Laura) and Miranda Bumgardner (Cole Miller). She is also survived by 26 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
