He is survived by : his wife Melody Holloway Poteat; his children, Jesse Aaron Poteat (Rachel) of Shelby, NC, Brianna Erin Wease (Tyler) of Shelby, NC, Tori Brooke Poteat (Tyler) of Shelby, NC, Destiny Sade Faith Poteat (Matt) of Shelby, NC and Trinity Elijah Reign Poteat (Ashlyn) of Shelby, NC; his grandchildren, Zayley Erin Wease, Heath Tyler Wease, Bodhi Reign McNure, Brynnlee Rae McNure, Grayson David McNure and Malakai Aaron Poteat; his brother Reggie Poteat (Anna); his nephews, Mathew Aaron Poteat (Sarah) and Noah Elisha Poteat (Natalie) of Montana; and his parents, Jay Dean Poteat and Mildred Deaton Keller.

Visitation was held on Saturday, June 22nd 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Encounter Church (1905 N Limestone St, Gaffney, SC 29340).
