It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Samuel Israel Locklear of Shannon, North Carolina, who passed away on October 25, 2020, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Minnie Ree Locklear; his son Samuel Locklear Jr.; his siblings, Virginia Locklear, Thelma Locklear, Elouise Locklear, Bozie Locklear Jr. and Kernice Lee Locklear; his granddaughter Estela Ann; his great grandchild Triston; and his sons-in-law, James Jacobs and Kenneth Guy Oxendine.
He is survived by: his children, Judy Ann Locklear of Maxton, Peggy Jacobs of Shannon, Shelby Jacobs (Martin) of Shannon, Gary Locklear (Twylear) of Raeford and Jenelle Oxendine of Raeford; his sisters, Modies Jones of Maxton, Jessie Bell Fulmer of Maxton and Zelma Locklear of Red Springs; his daughter-in-law Margaret Locklear of Maxton; and his grandson Larry "Pete" Strickland of Maxton. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren.
