He was predeceased by: his father Jesse Battle Barnes. He is survived by: his mother Louise Bizzell Barnes of Selma; his wife Joyce Bizzell Barnes; his daughters, Joy Payton Barnes of Jefferson, NC and Jennifer Shawn Barnes of Shallotte, NC; his granddaughters, Lillian Katherine Benton of Shallotte, NC and Hannah Louise Barnes of Shallotte, NC; his sister Sharon Barnes Stuckey (Tommy) of Princeton, NC.; and his aunt Grace Barnes Sledge. He is also survived by his wife, children, grandchildren.
