He is survived by: his wife Shirley Patricia Woodard Gales; his children, Keith Gales (Christy), Jessica Carr (Mike) and Tiffany Shearon (Robbie); his siblings, David Gales (Debbie), Jackie Little (Brady), Edna Gray (David) and Shirley Hewett; and his grandchildren, Ashley Ellington, Shay Gales, Savannah Shearon, Cody Gales and Alyssa Mankin. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
