He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Marion Elmer and Sarah Florence Rice Poindexter; his wife Anita Carol Carver Poindexter; his sons, Jay Poindexter (Gay) of Semora, NC, Stephen Poindexter (Melisa) of Timberlake, NC and Travis Poindexter (Courtney McMillan) of Roxboro, NC; and his grandchildren, Claire Brann (Andrew), Chase Poindexter, Lilly McMillan, Owen Poindexter, Olivia Poindexter and Henry Poindexter.
