He was predeceased by: his parents, William Crawford Sellers and Pattie Lou Smith Sellers. He is survived by: his wife Dorette Jones Sellers of Selma; his children, William "Billy" Larry Sellers of Rocky Mount, Renee Matthews Hinton of Princeton and Angela Matthews Baker (Johnny) of Smithfield; his grandson Jonah Matthew Hinton; and his godchildren, Angela Sanders and Will Putnam, Jr..
