He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace Godwin and Annabell King Godwin. He is survived by: his children, Carolyn Godwin Shepherd, Maurice Godwin (Latasha), Allison Williams (Martice), Marlene Godwin, Horace Godwin and Tina Godwin; and his siblings, Hazel Godwin, Carolyn Godwin, Calvin Godwin and Robert Godwin. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren a host of other relatives and friends.
