It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruthie Slaughter Strickland of Selma, North Carolina, who passed away on December 25, 2022, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Slaughter and Ruth Eason Slaughter. She is survived by: her husband Wayne Strickland; her daughter Amy Strickland (Ty Freeman) of Garner; her grandchildren, Coralie Ruth Freeman, Marlee of Rolesville, Calleigh of Rolesville and Jayce Freeman of Rolesville; her sister Patsy Daughtry (Tom) of Micro; her nephew Ricky Ward (Melodie); and her niece Amber Strickland Daniels (Jason).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Ruthie's memory to the Wilson's Mills Baptist Church Building Fund, NC State Wolfpack Club Scholarship Fund, or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, in honor of Jennings Palmer, which was Ruthie's favorite charity.
